We are receiving many calls about the sweet corn. The result of hail and cooler ground temperatures (due to rain), is the corn is somewhat delayed. Farmer Dean is anticipating the beginning of corn harvest in 7 to 10 days.
We have begun taking some other vegetables to Farmer's Markets. We are currently going to the Bethel Storehouse Grower's Market on Fridays from 3 to 5:30 and to the Cedar Crest Market on Wednesdays from 3 to 6:30. We hope to begin sending vegetables to the Northeast Heights Market on Tuesday from 3 to 6:30. We are currently harvesting summer squash, cucumbers, carrots, bunching onions, swiss chard, kale, lettuce, peppers and green beans.
Many are also asking about potatoes. We hope to begin digging those this coming week, weather dependent. The first digging of potatoes, is one of my favorite things we do each year on the farm. The children and I venture out (with Farmer Dean, when he is able) and dig up several mounds of potatoes. They are always beautiful and exceptionally tasty.
Thank you for checking in and we will continue to update as the harvest begins!
